Did 5th gear not make a noise when riding her?

I'm thinking about Morocco Sandraiders next year.. Wanted to make my own way there though - maybe ferry to Morocco or trailer the bike to Gibralter then ride from there. I hate flying!! Riding there would also considerably add to the adventure.

Don’t want to hijack the thread :hijacked: but are you repainting your engine at the mo Charlie? I’ll be rebuilding mine this winter for rings, cam chain and 5th gear so will repaint at the same time. Want to try to keep the edge of the fins bare.

It is worth noting that with any dry sump system there is a chance of the oil running down to the engine (which it only should do over a longer period of time), leaving the external oil tank with a seemingly too low oil level.

Well I opted to top up the oil rather than do a complete change yet. But, I have a serious oil leak.. almost all leaks out and I don't know where from. Looks like its coming from higher up the engine, maybe facing the oil tank somewhere. Difficult to see in there with the tank in place.
