Re: 1VJ Headlight Help
Huge thanks to both of you! I think I have found a second hand XT600 headlight here in the states that might make sense to buy for the parts but both of those links are very helpful to see how it all goes together.

1VJ Headlight Help
I recently got a stock headlight frame for my 1VJ in Texas from a friend in the Netherlands but I am missing the headlight bulb mounting hardware. I am sure it was used on more models than just the 1VJ so if anyone could help with identifying the name or even better, the part number, I would really ...

Re: A 3AJ Rebuild getting ready for Sandraiders 2026
I've got a 1986 1VJ I am currently riding in Texas but I also bought with it a 1988 3AJ along with it. When I get around to rebuilding it, this thread will be of great help! Well done on putting this one back together. I believe it is actually the same bike that is one the home page for this forum!

Re: Tachometer Needle Replacement
I sure appreciate the replies! I did manage to cut and separate the housing without too much damage only to find more damage than just the needle inside. The cable mount is broken from the bottom portion and the spring that goes around the needle shaft was broken and tangled as well. I guess I’ll be ...

Tachometer Needle Replacement
All of the gauges and lights work on my 1VJ except the tachometer needle is broken off. Can that be easily opened up? Has anyone successfully repaired or replaced a tach needle on a Tenere?

Re: Tenere 1VJ in Texas
That huge fiberglass fairing was always a heavy nuisance!
The small plastic fairing of the 43F is very similar to the stock 1VJ fairing. It's not perfect but hey. :tenere:

Re: Tenere 1VJ in Texas
After a few hundred miles on the 1VJ, I decided that aftermarket fairing was not working out. First of all, it is pretending to be a 3AJ and I think it should stop pretending. I do not have the factory headlight setup :pissed: so I bought 2 "cafe racer tail hoops" on Amazon for $14 each and decided ...

Re: Tenere 1VJ in Texas
Well after flushing the gas tank, rebuilding the carbs and dropping in a new battery, the bike came back to life! From what I was told, it had been about 3 years since it last ran so I was happy that was all it took. I put about 50 miles on it yesterday riding to a local radio show that I do and I ...

Tenere 1VJ in Texas
Some of you on here might remember ScottieH and his 1VJ and 3AJ that he owned and traveled on for years. Well, I have had the privilege of buying both of the bikes from him and plan to bring them back to glory in some way or another! I am first going to focus my attention on the White and Red 1VJ ...
