Gotta love the old DT175 - one of the best bikes Yamaha ever built, certainly one of the most under-rated.

What's the name of the South African dish that you cook in the cast iron pot? A Yarpie mate of mine used to bring it round when we had a barbecue (OK. OK, I know it's officially called a Brai) and leave it to cook for a long time. Forgotten the name. Bloody good.

Not too sure about the roasted dog's head though.... :wtf:

Shano, That Dt was one of my first bikes as well, this guy travelled 390 kays for this trip, the pot thing is called "potjiekos" like pot food, in this instance ostrich neck, man thats good stuff

Mez, thats serious sheep with smile and all, i was really impressed with tongue and cheek meat. the eyeballs and brain was plain to crappy, but it must be prepared correctly. Clean properly, then boiled and then this slow roast in Weber

Below is a write up from Robin and my trip to and from the old school bash as well two you tube clips. Me on my Tenere and him on his DR 650.
It was great. Part one was on the way towards the bash and Part 21 was our return. You van also read the write report on: http://www.wilddog.za.net/forum/index.p ... c=104653.0

"Hi All,
As promised the second part of our epic trip to Calitzdorp Thumper Bash and return.
The return journey saw many of the roads in an even worse state than going as we had a further two days of gigantic storms.
The hardest part was crossing the flooded Nuy River in the Karoo behind Sanbona game park.
Here we helped each other ferry the bikes across one after another.
The unfortunate driver of the cage sitting deep in the water was a visitor from New England. We later reported his incident to the police many kilometres away who promised to go out and help with a tow,
