How NOT to ride in mud!!!

Post by CharlieGreger »

See now, the thing is, I ride every day out to work, which is about 25kms away. I can get there by riding down the tarmac and get there in 15 mins or so :snore: . Or I can ride along the forestry tracks and that can take anything from 30mins to two hours, depending on what kind of mood I am in and how rough the tracks are on any given day. Now being the type of rider that prefers dirt to tar and often seeks out the dirt roads even if it means riding a tad out my way to do so.... Oh well, we all have our vices I guess! :riding:

One of my favourite "detours" on the way to work is up a track called the Yellow Brick Road, frequented by those blokes who prefer pedal power :dunno: so hence the name. Anyways, its a red clay track that can get pretty slick when it rains a bit, and is awesome fun if you are somewhat generous with the right wrist.

THe fuck up comes after 3 months of rain... I kid you not!! We have had about 5 days of sunny weather in the past three months here in the KZN midlands of South Africa. And with all that rain, I end up like a crack addict needing a fix and spend as much of my time on the way to work and back in the dirt. Last Friday we had a huge downpour and I have the joy or riding down yellow brick road in the dark, rain and mist on my way home. Then saturday arrives and I think to myself... Just one quick ride up the track then I will do that service I have been meening to do for the last week....

And this is me on my way back home :falloff:

I came away with a bent gear lever and a bit of a roastie and bruise on my left side where I landed on my feking house keys which were in my pocket instead of in my backpack!!! :DICKHEAD:

I see you trying to counter steer the bike all the way to the ground.
