34L Tank Needed.... or advice

Post by xpag6259 »

During my recent trip the baffles in my tank went from slightly rattly to louder than the exhaust note. I'd first thought that they probably come loose where they're spot welded to the base of the tank. Now I think some of the 'wings' have either vibrated off or torn badly. Has anyone ever taken a tank apart and seen what goes wrong? I have thought of cutting a hole in the section that the seat covers.

Or better still, anyone want to part with a decent tank. Doesn't have to be perfect, just have good baffles. I know its a long shot, ...............

Hi Paul, a very long shot to find another tank,I would cut her open in the same spot and have a look-see.You should have enough room to tack weld the baffles back in and weld up the hole but I would then give it the POR15 treatment for good measure.

You could just try pulling them out through the filler neck? :dunno:

If you had to chop a hole do it from the underside of the tank (the frame tunnel) thats how most tanks are repaired.

On my tank there are several cracked or partially loose.By painting the inner side with that epoxi paint and bending those with a wooden stick to a position it wouldn´t move any more that problem is long gone.
