Last night I bought a beautiful Xt500F
My mate has a xt500 that he has owned for twelve years, it's been out in that time maybe two or three times, he's the second owner, last mot 2006, I called round last night as he took the dust sheet off and it's amazing original condition, only down side is this dumpy exhaust, we started it up after about two doz kicks or so, he told me he's after a caravan and thinking about selling so I told the misses last night I'm interested in buying it and she told me just do it you know you like them so I did I will be picking it up this week, I'll get some pictures up soon as

I am know Mezo
, yes nice clean bike I wouldn't bother with a carb kit to be honest , chances are the pilot jet is blocked or theres no air filter. Noticed it has some odd rear indicators as the rear are off a C model, also maybe while it was in Europe it's had the Headlight changed to a metal one. There a cracking bike if you need info just message me.

Hello tommy
To late I've ordered a carb kit, blast, I love the xt's, I've had a few 600's now still got most of them, I've always thought of getting a 500 not sure of the year or model I wanted I suppose as long as I could ride it that was the main reason,
Thanks about the carbs tommy I'll be taking them off next week to clean, and I will be in touch Thanks.
I was out and about working about a month ago when a guy came upto me asked if I messed with xt's didn't know him but he new me, he said a guy was selling a newly rebuilt xt 600f just needs finishing off so I went to have a look at it today, all the works been done full engine rebuild loads of new bits, recon bits, swing arm looks as new powder coated with new bearing, shock looks like it's been rebuilt, forks look good, so looks like I've now bought another xt as this will do to rebuild my round the globe adventure.

Re: Last night I bought a beautiful Xt500F
I know what you mean, i also started with a 43F and still have it , i also still have a 1VJ which i did try and start today.
I will make a start on a resto on it one day but too many XT500 do restore at the moment.
This is my latest creation , big shocks and carb, cut back to TT spec with mudcatcher MX rims and YZ graphic design,
its for next years Hay on Wye XT meet so me and my lass can ride. It needs a crank but i also have a 1980 G model to sort
and a 77D.

And then there was last years project , my Dakar replica. Great fun to ride.

Im sure the lads on the site will have something to say about this one as i still need to get this one sorted.

Just ask if you need any info.

Re: Last night I bought a beautiful Xt500F
Thanks Tommy, just as it happens tommy I took the bottom of the carb off today removed the pin and float to clean inside then I took the long pin where the niddle passes though it it was part blocked so cleaned that and put it back together,
Now It will not start, I took it apart to check all that I have done, it all looks ok, tried to start it fired once briefly I can't get it started, have I missed something should I strip the top of the carb as well, any help would be much appreciated,
Thanks
Graham
