Nice work there Zonda, I've used nutlets before on a series of road cases I made, but only M6. I had thought about them when I realised the frames issues, but my outsert tool wouldn't do the size I need, it never crossed my mind to think about attaching like you've done there, thats really thinking outside the box.
Anyway, I've ordered Timeserts from America, it was way way cheeper than buying them here.

Got to washing some parts today, I'll send off parts for re-zincing in the various colours.

I blasted the hubs, I'll put the rear on the lathe sometime this week to make sure its all straight.

Puled the forks apart, found what was inside to be a bit different to whats in the books, so I pulled out the guts from my spare Ténéré and found it was different.
The above is what was inside the bike I'm restoring, plus a washer between the lower spring and the home made spacer, I say home made because the thing is cut on a slight angle.
The phone below contains what was in the spares bike.

I gather that the different wire diameters was Yamahas way of creating some sort of variable spring.

It's a public holiday in Melbourne today for a footy match parade, awesome.
Got my zinc coated part back, so the obligatory photo.

I had to get the work done at two different places, the first place wouldn't do black and the place that did the black wanted an exorbitant amount for the other bits. crazy.
