39E rebuild

Post by BazzaB »

Greetings Folks, I've just joined and from Newcastle, Australia.
I've just purchased a project bike which will be my 3rd rebuild of the 39E 1983 XT600ZL and this time I'm hoping to bring it back (or near as I can with 2nd hand parts) to showroom condition. I've owned at least one of these bikes for 32 years and over half my life time so there must be some form of obsession. My current ride has an SRX600 electric start engine, Belgarda rear shock, and modified front forks so it's really only a Tenere on the surface. It has plenty of original parts so would like to leave it alone as its such a sweet ride.
So I'm after a few items that are missing and need access to some parts listings or links, ie. parts pages and numbers or parts fiche. Ive seen some on the US sites but they dont seem to match in many ways.
Cheers and thanks for any replies.

Hi Bazza, go into your local Yammy dealer and ask them to print out the part number list for the 83 Tenere, it's about 40 pages and has exploded pic's of all parts and numbers. Front mudguards are available in Aust for around $155 from Yamaha, so double check local prices with over sea's prices.
