Second Tenere This time a 1vj

Post by Reubodad »

Hi chaps...
My 1vj is in boxes at the moment before a slow rebuild..
The motor has been rebuilt by Dave Lambeth in 2002, so I found out yesterday, the top is off and away for a good clean and repaint....and yes I know the frame isn't a standard colour but I like it..
Questions are... :
Is the dark blue available in rattle cans to do some touch ups? Is there a Halfrauds match?
Spokes are a tad crusty, is there a supplier in the UK that has them in sets?
I will no doubt have more questions as I go on..
Thanks in advance

Doug

Try cmsnl for spokes, Talon and central wheels may also be worth a shot. RS bike paint I believe do aerosols or by the litre. Yellow frame looks cool. Saw your post on FB ref the motor build.

I always use Central wheel for my spokes, have a close look at the inside of the rims too, they're prone to rotting

You can get the colour, Yamaha Faraway Blue it is for the dark blue.

Any paint shop should be able to fill that into a 2K spraying can

https://www.rsbikepaint.com/en-gb/colours.php

A "good enough" colour for me was RAL 5005 for a frame repaint (not an exact match, but good enough).
There is also a RAL 5005-P1 variant for plastics, not sure how they are different.
