The 34L rescue mission.
G'day from a new member from the gold coast Australia. Last year I bought a xt600z 34l Tenere, the bike is 3000klms away at a friend's house near Adelaide with a seized engine. My plan is to ride down a 1994 xt600 3tb and transfer the engine, wiring loom etc then ride it home. At the moment the engine fro.the 3tb is on the bench torn down to replace the 5th and 3rd gear wheels and pinions. Today I finished the transmission and I about to re assemble with new rings. There are a few questions I am going to come up with as far as converting the e start 3tb into the 34l. I have scoured this forum and studied some similar builds so I have an idea what I'm up against. I'm planning for the worst hoping for the best.

Good stuff. So you will be aware the E start motor is wider than the kick start motor, so will be output sprocket alignment issues to be sorted? Im after a kick engine suitable for rebuild if you want to sell it? Ive fully rebuit over a dozen of the XT engines for myself and others so if need any advice or individual parts let me know as may be able to help. Im also near Adelaide

Re: The 34L rescue mission.
Thanks for offer of assistance Dzl. Sorry I will be freighting engine back home to rebuild later. Yes I am aware the electric start engine is wider. Have read the drive sprocket needs to be altered and counter sunk screws used on the cover plate behind the sprocket. along with 3mm needs to be packed out on the rear sprocket.. Will also have to reposition oil cooler and battery box for larger battery. Maybe oil lines will need some changes to. Originally I was going to fly down and maybe rebuild the original engine but without tearing it down I don't how much will need to be rebuilt.. I already had the 94 3tb which I bought as a spares bike cheap, the engine in it ran well except for the noise in the 3rd and 5th gear. So I have decided to go with the conversion to the e start engine.
