well the tenere has taken a step in the right direction i bought a motor and complete wiring harness and some other bits
well a picture worth a thousand words

bought the motor in pieces, a work bench set up ready for the rebuild







the typical scoring of the bore and the piston skirts are just as bad



i'm a little bit excited about having a motor for the

some scoring on the cam bearing but nothing bad



clutch basket has a bit of wear, wondering should i touch it up with the file to get rid of the ridges



the case is in good nick







brand new 1mm over size piston

new clutch

new timing chain

con rod and big end

some seals and stuff i hope the book shows where they go

the dreaded 5th gear tooth decay

Haaa..... looks just like mine Dan.... cept my 4th gear is knackered too...... looks like yours has been seized at some time.....
Gonna start stripping my 3TB engine tomorrow, hope it looks better than yours .... if it does its going in Tenere 2 with 3TB wirng loom & electrics..

Hmmm... yeah, he was 'supposed' to be emailing me a price, for all the parts req'd to fix mine..... still waiting, must be five weeks now, only rung him twice to remind him......& now of course he's fucking about in the desert doing his Moroccan rally support thing.....

Wish I hadn't bothered now to be honest...

went out this arvo just to get a few cans of degreaser and came home with a new toy that should help with all my projects


$68 brand new
so i gave it a bit of a run whacked 8lt's of degreaser and what a little beauty

spotless so clean you could off it

had a bit of spare time got some more parts cleaned up



the new wiring harness (thanks mike)



the harness is in pretty good shape hopefully i can use it to sort out the army bikes harness

That looks like a 3TB harness Dan...
