Only that there is a "hidden" bolt in the middle that catches most people out, you think you have them all out & the head is stuck, its not you have missed the little bastard in the middle.

Check the fiche/manuals & you will see it, hold on to the cam chain with a bit of welding wire.

I thought I read somewhere that DL uses 8mm studs but 'repair' studs, so one end remains the original size....could be wrong......

So as Andy & Bowler said use plated studs, Andy uses zinc plated & bowler said galvanised, and David doesn't give the concise answer.
But DL does say & i agree with Geoff using SS is fine as long as you lube it with coppaslip & remove them every few years (service) as the heat generated will cook the grease eventually, Dave uses that example on the oil filter bolts where many guys have used SS, its fine as it gets removed every year or so to change the filter.

When you think about it all of Yammy`s bolts are plated not SS for a reason i guess?

Stainless bolts in Aluminium may corrode badly in wintery/salty conditions, ANd they are less durable than normal steel and a bit more brittle (20% I guess). Hard to drill out really :D

The plated studs simply work for me, I do not have any idea why Yamahas original M6 bolts were not plated. A rusty mess!
XT500 had plated M 8 studs, no problems there.

All done. Local bike mechanic took the studs out and have fitted stainless with plenty of coppaslip. Using brass nuts, as was done back in the day. so no rust there!

Whatever, I'm happy.
