I don't think he really knows what he's got.
I'd say the 34L is a 34L as it has the correct earlier frame with the oil cooler mounting on the left. It's certainly not a 1VJ frame as the reinforcing areas above the foot rests aren't drilled.
It also has the correct 34L swing arm with the chain adjusters sitting between the hub and the swing arm. The 55W swing arm had that weirdness corrected.
I think someone has improved the braking by fitting later forks, I have the parts to do that to my 34L and probably will over Winter.

Is this what the 34L silencers looked like?

Got to admit, they have a selection of very cool bikes for sale. Looking at their website they have more than on their ebay, although interestingly they dont list these teneres on the website. Looks like theyre a bike dealer and I guess wont know the ins and outs of all the Teneres like us Tenere nerds, but councours they are not. Still asking a lot of money for them all though, even for a dealership. I wonder where they source them from.

Based not far from where I live, might pop in.

Not being overly familiar with 34L front mudguards, what's wrong with it?

It was the 3AJ thing I was commenting on.
The mudguard should obviously be the low type. But even if the intention was a 1VJ style it has the wrong mudguard its a 34L/55W type with vents in the rear. The 1VJ as it left the factory should be unvented.
However I do think the earlier mudguard is a better solution from an air flow perspective, and probably why it got fitted. 34L vented mudguards with an unbroken lip are properly difficult to find now.
