Marino you have one of these..............

Without a tank & a LH side cover what I actually have is a bike that may have looked like that but has got Buckleys hope of ever coming close to it in the future!
On the optimistic side, one never knows what's out there for grabs.
So, like I said earlier, any help or leads on the missing bits will be greatly appreciated.
Finally, Dave, you're most welcome to call in some time ...... I'm sure you know the address by now

Hello Dashingly Handsome Administrator!
I did see that tank in another thread .... I can't remember which one 'cos I've been trawling through almost everything I can lay my eyes on on this site!!!
And, like the other UK member stated, both he and I only paid a few shekels for our bike and it hurts, nor make make much sense, to spend a "phone number" on a tank.
I know I could knock up a carbon fibre replica for way way less, if I could get a loan of a metal unit.
Do you know if they fit any other model other than our beloved 1VJ?
Obviously if one could amortise the initial mould costs over a few units it would help bring the per unit cost down.

I think unfortunately they will only fit the 1vj. The 34l predecessor has a different airbox cavity and the 3aj after 1vj has bolt on faring points etc. Perhaps there some in the forum who would like your carbon fiber special??

So, what we have here is a "redheaded, bastard, asthmatic, stepchild" which we nonetheless love and will groom into a fine example.
I started to hunt around seriously for tanks today, and even given my almost total lack of knowledge, I'm came out pretty sure that there are cheaper (better?) options than a $1200 new stock "tin" tank.
I think Clarke do one for the 1VJ ->

I still reckon a CF one would come home at less than $1200 but I'd need a to start with a good stock unit and that might prove difficult in itself.
As always, I'm happy to be proven wrong or get advice from those of you who know far more than me.

I'd be happy to back off to make sure that neither of us ends up bidding against each other and end paying more than either of us need.
I'd also be happy, even happier, if someone chimed in with some info on an alternative ... maybe like that Clarke one I posted a link to.
It will all pan out in the end and I'm in no particular hurry.
