Hi my name is Ian and I live in Zandvoort , Holland. I bought a bad 1VJ which needs a rebuilt. Before this bike I rebuilt a TDR250 with a lot of help of the members of the UK TDR forum. Finished after 18 months of hard work, riding it scared me so I sold it again. I am a member of the Dutch XT500 club and we have a website too but the forum is scarcely used. I used to do a lot of offroading but now I am more interested in making nice journeys. I made 2 trips to France this year with my XT500 using only secondary roads and I can imagine that a restored Tenere is very good for this and electric starting... wow, that is a luxury I have never experienced!

Thank you Mezo, I have bought the bike 2 weeks ago and taken it completely apart, I first want to tackle the block, which is a challenge on its own. I will upload some pictures later, perhaps on a other chapter of this forum

@Ian: Welcome. You had the same problem as I, a rarely used Dutch forum so you also went "over sea's"

The story is also almost the same, bought a XT600Z, taking it apart and then rebuilding it.

I will start a new thread with pictures of my progress and, of course, questions ....
