Got a bit done over the Christmas period, never as much as you think you'll get done
Had a play around with the two petcocks, only got a photo of one. Here's a part of the rebuild that you shouldn't cut corners or you will either be left stranded on the side of the road or worse still have fuel running all over your hot engine
New genuine Yamaha O ring, base gasket and fibre washers.
I've replated the front plate and vapour blasted the body and tap.

and a different view.

The petcock above is of what I believe to be the correct type.
Its a plastic cone tap with two holes and a detent for the fuel tap to turn it, with a single O ring, then the face plate.
I have another type which also came on a 1VJ tank where there is a rubber gasket with two holes, the alloy tap is a larger diameter and forms the seal against the gasket, followed by a belleville washer and the face plate finally. More complicated but arguably easier to turn and less likely to swell with fuel or become stuck.
I'll post a photo later.

Here's the other type I've seen on a Tenere 1VJ tank:

Anyone know what it came off?
The two taps are handed and sit with the correct rear facing exits.

So here we have some petcock types.
Starting from the right that's a KTM part that fits.
Middle is what I think is the correct original 1VJ tap, its a little longer and drops the lever lower. Making it easier to use whilst riding.
Left is what I think is off a later Tenere probably 3AJ?

I'm fairly sure the longer ones are 1VJ and I always assumed the shorter ones are 3AJ, fitted beccause the 1VJ type were prone to being knocked off. They must also help with gravity fuel delivery.

I looked into this a bit more and I think the petcock may have changed to the later type during the 1VJ production run.
BTW, what do the 34L and 55W taps look like?

Interestingly the bike those 3AJ type petcocks came off was a 1VJ that was absolutely standard.
Funnily enough I do have a spare one of those on a tank up in the attic.
When I get time I'll post a photo.

Maybe you can check the old brochures?

The first photo above (from the first issue brochure), is a bit inconclusive.
The second photo above (from the second issue brochure), it's obviously the shorter tap.
The long tap is from the XT600e
