I mean I got my tenere as a runner.Everything,except sidecovers and rear rack was there.I admire his strength to go on!But maybe he found the limit?

Karl is right about swimming against the tide on this bike. It does just wear you down to the point where you just don't want to continue with the project. The upside of the project is meeting a great bunch of blokes to learn off. It is not that I don't like Tenere's. I don't think a kick start Tenere is for me. I just spent another 40 mins kicking and trying to get the bike to start. And throwing my hip out in the process. I get the feeling I am just to old to kick a 600 single all the time.

The long awaited missing CDI arrived yesterday. It is a sealed unit and has correct wires. The plug is a female one and the original is male one. A few minutes changing the plug over to plug into the wiring loom. Before the tool shop closes for a couple of months. I raided Andy Gadget shed for things I might need while he is at sea. I borrowed his OEM coil and plug lead off his 2001 XR650 and bolts straight on. There is a fuel problem in not enough fuel is flowing through the carbie and making it hard to start.

I was the same when I got my new XT600 back in the eighties Dan, it used to take me forever to start the thing, especially if I dropped it or stalled it at a trial.... however once I got the knack it used to start first or second kick every time.... stick with it mate you've done an amazing job on that bike....

DAN is great to know she didn´t beat you!!!!!!!!!
Its like a marathon run....need to overcome the psicological break down......the fisical is easy to manage.

I think this Tenere feels it is a early model Triumph. On entering the garage and find a pool of engine oil on the ground from the Tenere

Pull off the bash plate and clean the engine. Start the bike again to trace down the leak. The oil is coming out of the oil filter cover. No not bottom bolt. Out of all the cover and that is with a brand new cover and O ring. Fixed it with some 515 and now does not leak oil

If some one stole this bike or burnt to the ground. I would throw party.

There something wrong with the carbs. It is back firing into the air box at idle and causing the bike to stall. The joys of pulling the carbs off again. I feel the float level is too low.

O.K. Dan take your problem of your bike not starting, try kicking the fucking thing with your left leg ( which I have to do ) and then tell me how hard it is. I can tell you that you need a certain knack to do so.This was my problem with my XT 55O.
Can you smell gas? Are your valves in spec? Is your plug good? How is your coil? Start with the basics and cheapest fix first.

The bike is back firing into the airbox at idle. Was quite loud in the start and and now it is smaller. If the bike is idling, the back fire (phutt sound) will stall the bike.
