It sure is. I am trying to get all this fiddly stuff done. Andy goes back to work in a couple of weeks and the tool shop closes for 3 months

The tool shop is just about closed. The rear muffler mounts are rooted and needed to be remade and thread tapped. Andy Gadget made up a jig to make sure the mounts are square.
Cutting off the buggered bit
Tig welding a new foot on with the jig to keep it square

New feet
All the holes and cracks welded up
Removed all the sidecar mounts and finished filing today. Almost ready for the powder coaters.
One of the biggest problems with restoring a Tenere is always the wiring loom. Well how about this. A brand new wiring loom for a RT. It is amazing what turns up in garages around here.

Slowly plugging away. Completely pulled every item apart. Sorted all the parts to go to the powder coaters. Fingers crossed should be finished powder coating by the end of the week.
Started on everybody's favourite job. Cleaning 30 years of oil and grease off the engine. Looking like the rear main seal is leaking and needs to be replaced .
Even a ton dirt out of the alternator. I think this engine is going to be 10kg lighter. Once the dirt has been removed.

there was an article in one of the bike rags a while ago, a dealer built a new R type thing completely from off the shelf from the factory parts apart from a couple of things, spares should not be a problem for quite a while.

Yeah they did and it cost $45,000 US in parts. Not including labour.
A bit of motor porn. There is an engine under all that grease

Looks like I have to pull the clutch and fly wheel off the back of the motor to replace the rear crankshaft seal. It is a good time to do this with the engine out.
Engine wise the valves and rings have been done. The items need replacing are the timing chain, starter motor, alternator ? well it works, but it is still 33 years old. Coils.
The gearbox, final drive, have been rebuilt. Steering bearings, wheel bearings are new..
Even dirt hiding under the stater motor,

Hi Russ,
I am waiting a big box of bits from both those places. Just waiting on Motoworks to ship. The hold up is a part is not in stock.
Sadly postage from the UK and US has gone through the roof over the last couple of years.
