Where did you get your con rod kit Dan? Was it expensive?
Been shopping around today for one... not much luck

i bought the motor in peices from mike (monjell82) he had pulled it down and went through it with his trainer "apprenticeship" and he had puchased the rebuild kit so it all came with the motor
now "mike" can chime in and fill in the blanks

clutch basket has a bit of wear, wondering should i touch it up with the file to get rid of the ridges

I would file those little grooves smooth if i where you Dan,that can only cause you problems.

Its great reading these builds again.

got stuck into the head, first problem was this

sprayed wd40 penetrate on it everyday for a week, hit it with heat no go
so i butchered it with the die grinder tried to thin the walls and punch it inwards still held firm

right time for plan B welded a bolt into the shredded remains and made a puller

got ya

pulled the valves for inspection

inlet look ok

exhaust are a bit ruff

That amount of wear is of no consequence. At most give it a little touch-up with emmery paper to smooth it up.

Yep you can see the grass is defiantly greener in Geoff`s garden.
