Swaped the 2 wires around that are for the trigger coils and it reves out now but its very rich, is it possible to drop the needle in the carb? I am guessing the last owner raised it to compensate for air leaks

Stick to standard unless you live in Mexico or the alps. The float level is the one you’ll have to be careful of.
Middle notch on both needles. 46 pilot. 145 main. 125 jet on second carb. 25-27mm float height (I’d go for lean). 2nd carb starts to open when the primary is 7mm open (drill bit).

Hello SOHC, don't you really mean that you reversed the two source coil wires (red and brown), rather than the trigger coil wires (wich are actually three)?

There are 3 wires but one is an earth,

I still cant get this hunk of shit to run, its hard to start, then once its going it runs ok but when it gets hot it won't rev,

I got one of those hyperspark cdi units, needed some help with it but the guy refused

Is there anyone around your way who could try their cdi on your bike? I take it the carbs are reset to standard, and stator tests ok now? New stator is £100, and transformed mine. Was pissing about with her for ages. Instant new bike.

No dont know anyone with a cdi, basically i have traced it to the cdi box that guy made, its a hunk of shit witch doesn't work properly

I see Yamaha still sell new ones but >£700
I wonder if a second hand box from a newer version would fit? I’ll keep an eye out. The ones on eBay are generally about £100.

I am giving up, I have had enough, its not my bike, it can be the next persons project
