Yes Mezo.
I took it apart yesterday to find I'd not put the spring back in it. So I found the correct spring and put it back in. It's certainly better but still pops and bangs downhill on the overrun, just less so .

A little update.
Putting miles on the newly MOT'd blue 1VJ and sorting the inevitable little jobs.

The oil tank cap was bloody awful...


So thanks to Dzoltan off the forum I ordered two freshly CNC'd oil caps, one for this, one for the white 1VJ. They come in the alloy but these were anodised at Runcorn anodisers which are a new contact for me. I was going to have them ceramic coated but it would have been somewhere around the £40-50 mark, these pair were £10. New genuine gaskets and some medium strength loctite should stop the dip stick working loose and falling into the tank

Hopefully will also get it's new wheels and tyres back on.
I'm running around on ancient rock hard enduro tyres which aren't the most confidence inspiring.
I had fitted a 140 section Michelin Anakee Wild on the back to the rebuilt wheels originally but it's slightly too wide really, so when I get five minutes I'll swap it for a correct 120 section of the same.

The oil cap does look nice Dan, just watch you don`t burn your fingers when checking the level now.

For the eagle eyed, or more polite members, I will fit the exhaust intermediate bolt, rather glaring omission, directly below the oil tank.
It's an absolute bitch to get in on a 1VJ cos of the frame bracing. It's almost impossible to locate the nut on the back, and the bolt is slightly too long to get between the pipe and bracket.
In the future I'll weld a nut to the flange on the rear section and probably slot the circular hole.

Yes, the anodized black looks great, l left mine as it was. I used an o ring instead of the factory cork gasket, l have run it thru a few heat cycles and it seems ok [ it's viton rubber type]. Probably should Loktite that screw as well

That is exactly how I did it. Welding is magic!
And: if the bolt rusts to the nut, you just snap it when opening, instead of having to deal with a nut stuck on the bolt and rotating in its bracket forever.
