Hello all

I have a question to ask, it might sound stupid but bear with me
I need a new swing arm guard and new chain rollers top and bottom on my 3AJ 1988.
Question is
Do I need model specific parts or will any XT parts fit.

Thanks in advance

Brer

As far as I know they're all the same. Rollers from many other models and even other brands of bikes and quads work also, they just have to have an 8mm x 1.25mm bolt.

Thanks for that XT

I didn't want to shorten the chain before I had the info, just in case.

Cheers,

Hmmmm,my 3AJ has a fixed metal boss to the frame for the upper chain roller.A thin plastic sleeve fits over that and then the chain roller. The actual roller has no bearings and has an inner diameter of 17mm approx. Without removing the metal boss fixed to the frame,I can't see a standard off road roller fitting. Both my outer plastic rollers were missing and I got a set of universal chain rollers from MD racing in England. These are plain without bearings but I had to open up the centre hole to fit over the standard thin plastic sleeve.
I had a !VJ lying about and it had the same fixed metal bosses on the frame as my 3AJ.

Our all just have a 8mm threaded hole in the frame(maybe a welded nut on the frame IIRC now), that's it . then a roller with an 8mm bolt screwed into it, top and bottom.
