Hi all, :nannawave: Tenere not going due to no spark. :bag: Bike has done 7,000km's since rebuild. :oilleak: I had put a Ohms meter on the Red & Brown wires and no reading. Manual reads that there should be 160 to 240 Ohms. :rtfi: So with no reading from the meter what could've happened inside of the left hand side cover? :dunno: Broken wires? I'm not sure, any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys :yess:

I'm pulling my hair out at no spark as well (and rapidly running out of lager in in my garage as I check one wire after the other in response to threads here)

I had to buy a new multimeter as the old one was giving weird readings.

My readings after 10 years of inactivity are within the range specified so perhaps you might want to double check your procedure.

My horn doesn't work any more which leads my to realise that 'Corrosion Happens'. Perhaps that's what happened to your coil?

PS: If anyone knows how to check the readings on a 3aj CDI unit, please lete know in a dm to keep this request clean.

James

Hi James, I found with my 3AJ that once the ignition is turned on the horn has voltage to it. Hence i've wired some accessories to it. At the moment I've put the bike to one side just because of my work load.
To Be Continued!

Hi there,
my book states there should be 112-132 Ohm between red and brown, for a 1987 Tenere (1VJ). However, there should be SOME resistance there, else the coil will not work.
Broken wire sounds about right. If you are lucky it is just a faulty connector/Cable OUTSIDE the engine cover, where did you measure? You can undo the spades from the connector to check for bad soldering or broken cable.
