Next..... Weak spark..

Ok so! Another 1VJ problem... (my 34L was never this bad}!
Put another starter on and it spins fine..
Carb has been off and on a few times but sorted (I think) now..
Fuel air mixture is good, compression is good..
However the spark is quite weak.. And intermittent....I have tried a new coil and spark plug, but no difference
I'm hoping its not the CDI dying....
But if it is, is there an alternative???

Have you tried the new stator in it, the 3white, red and brown? That’s the source coil power for the spark on the 1vj. Mine even tested ok for ages while causing me shite.as said on your other post, Electrex stator in and you’re away.that’s where my money is.

Cheers donnybach...
I do have another stator in my spare engine so will try that first.....
HOWEVER!!..I will look out the elextrex one tomorrow.... I need to take the starter off as I have an oil leak from under it... Something to keep me busy tomorrow!!! Lol

And so!!!... Stator taken out of both engine and spare and swapped over, redid the wiring as connectors better on one than the other,..
And way to go!.. It starts amazingly well!!!
Next is sort the clutch out..
Then seat cover......
Lastly the side panels which after I stripped them look terrible...

Mechanical click when stopping engine? Or when stopping the starter? Probably the starter clutch or something. Check the auto decompression gap too. Might be fine after a good run with fresh oil.

Yes, when I stop the motor, its only then it happens.... Not when it is running...
Its looking like I have to take the side off again to sort the clutch out as its just not playing ball..... Might need new clutch plates methinks..
The arm is lined up properly with the case but no way can I get it adjusted correctly..

And... An oil leak on the top of the engine under the starter motor from either a breather pipe or the oil seal in the oil line is toast....

Same oil leak here. Don’t worry too much. Unless it’s pissing out. I use loctite crankcase/flange sealant on casings and will also put it under the barrel when I rebuild it. It could be the clutch actuator seal on the casing, or the barrel to crank case. I seal up the starter motor too.
Clutches are shite. Don’t know who thought it was a good idea not to have a rest position on it to start. I make sure I have the cable and lever adjusters set first so the “almost invisible “ pointer is at the mark on the case (can’t see shit on mine) then adjust the clutch under the cover. Even then (and now) I still play around with lever adjustment during rides.
