Replacing Mirror
The conical nut on my right hand mirror split, I just needed the nut as everything else is fine. Ordered a complete mirror from ebay which was supposedly compatible but the nut on that doesn't fit the mount on handlebar. I'm guessing that the larger threaded stem on the replacement will fit the hole in the bar that will be there if I screw off the chromed part that is fitted to it however I want to retain my OEM mirror so I'm not going down that road. So, does anyone know if the conical nut is available anywhere or am I going to have to buy an OEM mirror somewhere just to get that nut.

Nah only the end has a standard thread mate
Yamaha does one side as a left-hand thread so it will some loose if it gets hit.
Both sides are M10 x 1,25 as far as I remember. This goes for compatibility.
The lock nut should be the same thread on the original mirror.
Other threads will vary depending on the manufacturer, depending how/if they set the mirror up. Most will use adapters for their mirror to fit different bikes. May even be a pipe thread ;-)
Your best option would be to get a used broken mirror with locknut in order ...
Are you sure your mirror is original? My locknut looks like the one below and is made from steel not brass.
