I'm fairly sure they go on the V5 date.
I know it says built or 1st registered 40 years ago on DVLA website to qualify....

I think you’ll have another year of tax bud. Bikes are usually made the year previous, shipped across the world etc, and registered when sold. My 99 blade was built in 98, still a 99 model though. Only difference is if it was from overseas. Mine came into the uk about 20 years ago but has the correct plate for year so I suppose someone has already proved the date in the past, but I wonder if I’ll have any trouble doing the same thing in 2026. 1st year 1VJ.
Good luck anyway. Let us know how it goes.

Steady on!!!!!

bit drastic. don’t push her in front of a bus.
Go into London next year and get value from this years tax from not paying ulez charge.

Or give it to me

. Can’t pay, can’t explain to mrs I’ve bought another, but can “look after it” for you.

Yamaha provide that service.

But at £50 and a 6 week wait, might as well do it next year and use the date on the V5.
Especially since it may well have been manufactured in 84.
