Hi everyone!
This is gonna be a thread about my 34L.
It´s not getting restaurated as it is my allday-bike.
But every now and then I will ad some "modification" along the way.
Useful or not may be discussed here.
This how she looked like when I got her home:

As you can see: Everything was worn to the limit and some TLC was necessary.

Imediatly after bringing her home I changed the tank and seat as I had better parts in my shed.
And I took off the lugage racks:

Much better!!
Then I walked around the bike and made a list what had to be bought:
Chainkit
Oil + filter
Airfilter
Sparkplug
Brakeshoes front and rear
Brakeliquid
Battery
I got everything from Kedo.
The tires and tubes (Heidenau K 60 are my favourites) I ordered online.
The bike was about 1000 Euro
The parts were about 500 Euro
TÜV and registration about 100 Euro
So I ended with 1600 Euro for a Tenere on the road! I think it´s worth it.
Till now to no regret...
I love the bike! She is very stable at speeds. Comfy seat, long range, nice sound...
And I love to wrench on her.
The XT-family makes it very easy to make the bike suit to my needs.

Things to come:
Plan A:
Get an oiltank from the XT 600 43F for the better oilline.
in that process get rid of the oilcooler (I´m not going to the desert)
TT chokeknob for less parts to go wrong
Plan B:
New bearings for the steering
New oil for the fork
New gaiters ( Got them anyway. I bought them for my TT... but they were to short)

Plan A:
On Ebay I found a very cheap (15 Euro) oiltank with oillines for the 43F.
I knew (thanks to Mezo) that the oilfeedingline leaves the oiltank at a far better/safer location than on the 34L-tank.
The tank came ... and wasn´t in a good state. One eye for the attachment on the frame was broken and the other was heaviliy
soldered/repaired:

but at least I had some good oillines...
After a while I found another oiltank. It was the one Mezo had shown in is "better oiltank"- discussion.
It was also cheap ...

... but in better shape (as you can see !)
The tank had some homemade modifications on it:

A temperature sensor.

And a oillevel- indicator.
So I started to disasemble the bike in order to change the oiltank, lines and oilcooler...
This is what I found:

Here should be the Oilfeedingline coming out.
I looked under the tank... and saw this:
... somebody changed the tank already...grmmmph. (Or has the 34L built in ´84 the 43F tank ? Karl ??!!!)
So I ripped off the oilcooler and changed the upper oilline and was done:

Make shure you are holding the joint while unscrew the oilline. This way you don´t stress the tin/soldering to much.
And this is what I saw:
The carbi !!! Here he is !!
Next project:
TT Chokeknob

Oh really? On my monitor everything is fine.
When your box will be packed I stuff them tanks into it and you can take off the paint yourself.
I think I´m fine with the tanksituation on my bike.

Must admit it looks better on the PC than the iphone Fred.
Are you not going to use that tank then Fred? how did they fix them parts? was it welded or brazed on?
Mezo.

Cheers Fred.
I thought you got it for a project for yourself, that`s good because we can sandblast that & copy it on the others.
Nice one mate.
Mezo.

Fred
Your title should have said Fred´s 50´T.
Look on your swingarm.......the tensioner is a exterior one.....so if all on the bike is first hand should be a 50T.Also the oiltank.Only the 1983 model had the oil feed up on the exterior wall.
I even dare to say your bike is danish/swedish import.Look the rear guard extension

Also the front guard extension is present.

And telling it all the exhaust "Flöte" or flute. Not present on german models.
