How good are your welding skills, i have made my own by just using the doodah bit of the foot pegs.
Grind off the end part so that all was left is the locating dodah.
Bought some lazer cut toothed steel pegs off ebay , these come flat but easily formed around some tube.

Excellent news , if it runs ok i would mess too much . Supertraps are great but may need jetting really depending on the number of discs you use.
What about a genuine silencer , theres about 7 on ebay at the moment and better than having money in the bank if you want to sell the bike.

Thanks Tommy, just as it happens tommy I took the bottom of the carb off today removed the pin and float to clean inside then I took the long pin where the niddle passes though it it was part blocked so cleaned that and put it back together,

I know what you mean, i also started with a 43F and still have it , i also still have a 1VJ which i did try and start today.
I will make a start on a resto on it one day but too many XT500 do restore at the moment.
This is my latest creation , big shocks and carb, cut back to TT spec with mudcatcher ...

I am know Mezo :wave: , yes nice clean bike I wouldn't bother with a carb kit to be honest , chances are the pilot jet is blocked or theres no air filter. Noticed it has some odd rear indicators as the rear are off a C model, also maybe while it was in Europe it's had the Headlight changed to a ...

I used Simonise high temperature paint on the Barrel and head, the bottom end i just use standard matt black simonise paint and dont lay it on thick.jibber wrote:What paint do you use on your engines Tommy?
