Suggested mods for big trip

Hi Rick, so if this RH crank nut does come loose, what can happen? I'll have to look this one up in the manuals

As Mez says the engine will

The crank & balance shaft get intimate when the straight key for the drive gear shears off.
Vander recorded his bike with the same problem

I've had to fix mine & XTZDazzyps' & when I bought a gear cluster the lad selling it was breaking his SZR660 because he'd been told the big end bearings were shot, I checked his crank, it was ok then I showed him the tell tail marks on the relevent washers that show where the noise was coming from. So it is a common problem.

Oh my good God what epic bikes these teneres are, I am now nearly 800 miles south of Nordkapp after getting there 3 days ago. Many fun issues with the bike but so far all over come with bodge tape and good luck. I will post photos of my 21 year old bike next to the brand new triumph xc on my return to the UK

Hi mate,
Hope the trip went well, could you post a route as well as some pics.
I am prepping for the same trip, unfortunately I 've postponed already twice.
I was looking at arriving by ferry to hook of holland and the riding to Copenhagen - Oslo the E6 all the way to nordkapp . on the way back Alta to sweden via the old postal road

That is the route we took, you will love the E6, it was made for bikes - don't forget to buy a statoil coffee mug and lid as you can then getr free refills at any Statoil in Norway.

I will sit in front of the laptop tomorrow and download a load of pictures and try to do the trip justice by writing about it - currently a bit tired as arrived home today
