tt600 36a/59x rebuild

It began on my way home from work on a sat and spotted yard sale with bikes!
ok have a look, nothing of interest until he mentions a tt600,
I'll take it, stupid me.

i am a lot further ahead with this with another bike and between the two have a good
stock of parts thank god.

Then some months later cam across another tt600
but it had gold rims and looked lower.
so i brought it. stupid me.

this thing was sitting for a while stale fuel etc.
cleaned the carbs and it ran great but there was smoke
and it had xt engine forks and rims, too low for me,
so between he two i had enough to make a good one so i thought.

Yep it always starts with a "good idea". The shame and regret set in so to make yourself feel better you buy another, and repeat. These bikes sure do tend to be beat up for some reason, a person has to buy 2,3 or 4 of them just to have enough parts to make one good one, then you buy new parts anyways to make it look pretty.

Thanks guys, you are right xrider that's exactly what iv'e done got a big order from boats coming
but i do have a very close to complete bike and spares, might need another just in case, i have 3 frames in total!
just in case you know..
and fred333 i read your build a few times mainly cose there's not many tt builds and was good one,
especially with the 12v conversion you looked at, if i need any nick knacks like battery box ect i'll ask.

I hate sand blasting! guess how long it took to do the frame, about 8 hours and sand every where.

And finally got the frame done , then sprayed it with 2 pak, paint alone was about 200 dollars.
and did the front engine mount and bash plate.

all hung up drying, all nice!

now at work ready to piece the jigsaw back together.

As luck would have it got a bolt lot from the usa, the coating is mint.
rear axle swing arm axle all bolts except front axle, i got lucky.


with my work as a mechanic i get a good variety of bolts
rubber grommets, all old motors i pinched the good bolts.
Then got the air box back in after washing and bluing the plastic

You plan to do a 100% factory rebuild or play some Dakar idea? Maybe a big tank on that great bike?

Thanks for the reply, to be honest i like the factory look a lot, they just look like big monsters to me
waiting to hurt you! especially in black.
A bigger tank would be good i think fred333 got a few big tanks but that's in Germany,
nothing in Australia as usual.

where was i ah yes, test fitting things lucky the first bike has disc brake's 59x
first for me. i re bushed the front forks and fitted new seals and linished then polished the forks
during the referb i discovered 1 tube bent, i spun the tube in the triple trees with the wheel in,
and the gap changes crap. tried to straiten to no avail, it will have to do for now untill i find another.

the main goal now is to have the bike running by 20th December, i get nearly 3 weeks off and
i want to spend 2 and 3\4 of that on it. now the pics!

Have a question for you all? the clutch cover has a crack, below the clutch basket area.
what's the best way to repair this? it had a coin glued to stop the leak! any help would be great,
