small update motor back in

Africa Twin swingarm fits no problem

now came the XR650L front end, the original forks are 41mm, the XR650L are 43mm and a straight bolt in fit but i managed to purchase XR650R front end good news the 46mm fork is more adjustable, bad news the top bearing is the same but the bottom is bigger and the overall length of the stem is 12mm longer, mods necessary

press out the stem

not too hard

carefully machined the stem down

Just goes to show that all that money spent on tools, lathes and presses was not wasted!!

might have a rethink on the front end mod, there's a 20mm gap at the bottom yoke see pic

problem is the lock stops don't work
so i will machine the stem right down to the bottom yoke and make a spacer for the top, 2 positives the lock stop will work and the bars will be 20mm higher
started sorting all the bits and getting a bit more done

So to put an end to the transalp build it sat far too long and I lost interest, I sold it on to a keen young bloke hopefully he gets it finished
