Does anyone know if a 1VJ cdi unit will fit a 3AJ??
Also I have a 2KF cdi here... I seem to remember reading somewhere that the only difference between the 2KF & 3AJ was the sidestand wiring
Dave... anybody know??

The 1VJ is a true CDI (capacitor discharge ignition) and does not need the battery to operate.
3AJ is a TCI (transistor controlled ignition) and requires a good battery to spark.
A quick visual check is the size and wiring style.
CDI is larger (cig. pack size) and has the wiring emerging from epoxy potting.
TCI is smaller (about 1/2 the CDI) and has a female plug taking 6 or 8 pin connector.

Huh?
i always thought the 3AJ was CDI & that the 3TB`s was when they went over to TCI.

Oops, I wrote that last night without the benefit of any of my reference material.
1VJ and 3AJ are CDI. The 2KF is also CDI. You can fit the 2KF to a 3AJ, you just ignore the clutch, neutral and sidestand wires.
