Its defently is 1vj as it has the correct frame and engine number starting with 1vj. I just sat the 3aj tank on it whilst waiting for my clutch cable to arrive.(should have mentioned that). It came with a botched 1vj tank on it and chrome rims (17" rear) and rear disk brake.
I will put some pics of the whole bike on tomorrow.

Photo bucket seems to be having problems at the moment so Ive not been able to put pictures yet.
There's another picture of it on this forum from about 4 years ago when I needed some help with a starting problem and mezo cracked it mentioning the filter inside the carb. The heading was "starting problem" by simple simon. :star:

Are you aware 1VJ`s come with drum brake at the rear? your bike has had the whole rear end replaced (arm & wheel) disc brake.

The engine number boss on the case should have grooves in it, with the number being engraved into them.

That's right mezo, the bike has had the swing arm with disc brake , that's why are put the picture of the bracket mod on the frame on.
Its also had the front end swapped for a latter model. I had the 34L front rim laced on to the later hub. Still not sure what model the front forks are off or if there original yokes.
The previous owner said he swapped the parts (including engine internals) for a latter model.
I'm just trying to find out which one (or more).
I'm thinking all non original parts are from a xt600e 4pt at this stage.
