The cable holder was new old stock from fleabay, I had bought the black one from Partzilla, but then found the real deal, interestingly, the white one came with the bolt and nut in the sealed Yamaha packet rather than the black one which comes as seperate parts.
I've seen pictures of XT's with black ones, however, my grotty old ones are both white and I've got an original 39E sales brochure with the white one, the bike in the brochure has black lines on the tank decals rather than blue seen on some original bikes, go figure.
I've seen some other strange things also (actually my career had been in stage & screen so I had seen & made a lot of strange crap), the wiring harness on 39E00165, which looks pretty unadulterated, has the plug for the flasher can near the battery box, and for the ignition switch it has seperate bullet connections rather than a 6 way plug.
Also, looking at Yamaha supplementary service manual 39E-28197-60 which starts at #39E-000101 and Yamaha supplementary service manual 53R-28197-20 which starts at bike #39E-004101, both books are written in English, French & Italian, 34L isn't mentioned, does that mean the model is actually 39E rather than 34L as called by some people?

I've had a bit of an electrical headache, a bit of trouble getting a spark, I had 2 stators, 4 coils, 4 cdis & 2 harnesses, , tried them all out, got confused a bit along the way, 1 coil fucked, a new cdi not working, a physically damaged stator, a stuffed plug cap, eventually, big fat spark, fuel in a cleaned out tank with rebuilt tap and second kick, into life, great feeling, except I had forgotten to do tighten up the tappet inspection caps so I had a bit of oil spewing around the place.
Great to have it finally running.

Hello blacksark, pardon me my english language, I'm italian and I don't speak E. very well.
I'm subscribed from 2014 , but I've never write anything... I read yours message, and I would
ask you : do you have an original brochure of the 39E?
