TT600 1985 fitting a 1998 XT600 e motor

Ok i am thinking of fitting a 600 e(4PTB) motor to my TT600 , i am a bit old now to be kicking a bike .
Any one with any experience or constructive comments would be greatly appreciated .
I do own a 2002 XT 600 e and just acquired a 1998 600 e in a box which was stripped to renovate or what ever, all looks quite good and only 15K on the clock .

Im sure that is doable, let others chime in.

Edit: you will have to swap over all the electrics, it will be a 3TB TT600 (TCI) ignition.

Yes i will put the 600 e loom in the TT and i have been comparing the parts catalog to see what parts are the same all i need to do is do some measurements and decide if i am going to do it .
I took early retirement so i have the time .

I put a 3TB motor in an '86XT so same setup . Biggest hurdle is the motor needs to move to the right about 8mm because the case is wider and the sprocket is out that far compared to the old motor. I cut the mounts and moved the one side over to make up some of it and also added spacers behind the rear sprocket for the last little bit . Biggest thing you have to watch is the chain hitting the frame.

After that all electronics associated with the E starting needs to be swapped .

I spoke to a guy at the club , he put a Ténéré 600 motor (the one with the kick start and starter motor ) in to a TT600 and the only thing apart from the electricks he had to change was the bottom front engine mount .
I will go and have a look and take some pictures .
I should have another TT600 frame next Friday and will fit that to the motor , i do not realy want to change my existing TT600 as it is all original .

Ya , in some countries there were different motors that had both kick and electric in the older motor cases , those motors will interchange without frame modifications . Here in the US we only got 2 motors , older kick only and newer (3TB) e-start only ,which were wider at the sprocket than the other motor . Swapping for you will be much easier with the other motor options then what I had .

Busy cleaning up the motor before i put it in to the TT , do not want to strip the motor as this is my first attempt at modding a bike .

The above is a typical month end club ride , most of the guys ride XT600 or XT660 , there are many XT500s .
