Just changed my sprag. Ball ache but done. If you're an owner of this model and know it's quirks, let's chat. I'm off on a long trip and may need some guruness. Cheerz.

Choke rubber cover down by the carb is everything but tight, letting water and dirt get in there eventually making the choke stuck.

Now dying to know what a sprag is :thanks: :dunno:

+1 for the choke rubber tip. Plus keep the choke cable well lubricated.
Other than that the bike needs a good battery to be reliable as the ignition is TCI and needs volts ... even when the starter is turning over the engine no problem there may be not enough juice to fire a good spark.

"Down there" at the greasy bits, the bike has the same problems as all Tenere models, depending on throttle use and load the chain guides give up at some point. I replace them with KTM sliders.

These are KTM SXF 250 but other ones may fit, too. I think originally the plastic side cover uses this hole ...

They are cheap and do not fail in an instant like the Yamaha rollers do. Nice color, too :D
Just in case: Original Yam Workshop manual and spare parts list.

About air filters: go with oem. Aftermarket ones wont sit tight in its slot instead leaving a gap that gets you an airbox full of sand. Ask me how I know.
