Jeez... that's shit, I'd have been gutted.

I bagged a pair on eBay a while back for 30 quid, I'll be fitting them to Tenere 2 very soon.

I do have a spare left side case and the right one which will come off Ten 2... you're welcome to them, but obviously not a matched pair.

I was gonna try putting it together with my spare left side one until I saw the pair on eBay

How’s your confidence on pairing together a mismatched set of case halves, because i have one of each side that may work. I have also heard it is the one truly verboden thing you must never do.

Well the bikes have finally had their revenge. Slipped off the back of my pickup unloading the XT and heard the most unpleasant POP in my left knee as i caught myself and then got pinned. My gal had to come drag the hunk of metal off me and drive me to the hospital.



And all this after taking this 02 KTM 300exc out for its first ride. Amazing bike. Maybe the XT was feeling jealous?



Awaiting xray results now. Certainly doesn’t feel good. Hoping some big beautiful nurse comes in and wrenches on the knee to put it back in place, gives up some medical grade ibuprofen, and sends me home.

EDIT: I should add those KTM`s are great while the engine is running, they are fast because they are highly tuned but they grenade without warning & the cost of the parts make it uneconomical to repair, that`s why there are so many parts bikes for sale (minus engines) but the suspension components are great (Ohlin`s & WP).

The transmission and gearing on this 300 made it so simple to crawl along up hills. Very close to how I’m used to riding a 4 stroke. And then the suspension held up its end of the bargain when i wanted to go faster. Just point the front wheel and gooooo.

I wish there were lots of used parts bikes around here. Salt Lake City is an epicenter of off road activity and the prices and scarcity of used dirtbikes bikes reflects that. This beat up 2002 bike cost me $2700 USD and that was a deal for the area. I could offer it for sale for 3k today and get a dozen phone calls in 24 hours. It’s crazy.

Its because of the colour & sponsorship (Red Bull) i knew Husky`s long before KTM`s as they was THE four stroke crosser back in the day.

Well i guess this is my view for the next few weeks. Surgery yesterday to fill in the depression in my tibia with cadaver bone and then a plate and screws to joint it all together. And man it suuuucks. Been lucky up till now in my life and haven’t had any major injuries so i forgot what pain feels like. Now i know again.

Realistically i probably can’t ride anything serious for a year, so I’m on the fence about selling the KTM to help pay for my uninsured ass. Sucks but it’s my new reality.
