Hi there!
I recently had to refill the bike with some fresh oil since I had resolved some important oil-leaks that sank the oil-level. I had nothing else but 20W40 mineral car oil at that moment and since I have to do a proper oil-change very soon I thought that it won´t matter that much,as a provisional solution.
I now feel that it is more difficult to change gears, and I suspect that it is because of the crappy oil I used to refill it. I decided to use the oportunity to change the set of clutch-plates + harder springs and put some decent motorcycle specific oil and see if it solves out.
I need advice on what oil is best for mediterranean temperatures and if it is worth it to go for a better clutch set as the stock one (EBC/Barnett).
I´m thinking of semi-synthetic Motul 10W40, manual says 20W40 but I haven´t seen any yet.
Thanks in advance to all of you!
Cheers, Ibai.

Re: Clutch change on 1VJ
Personally I would use a good quality 15W40.... or even 20W40 bearing in mind the Mediterranean temperatures...
The future is not what it used to be....

Re: Clutch change on 1VJ
Thx Geoff, yesterday I bought a good quality motul oil with that density in mind. Today I will let the old oil drain for as long as possible and tomorrow I´ll put the new oil and hope the clutchplates start doing their job again. If not I will have to change them too.
If so, did anyone here tried the Barnett clutch set or is it just throwing the money away? Considering that my bike (tenere 1VJ) hasn´t had any mechanical upgrades apart from the exhaust system (modified TTR600 stainless headers + Arrow Dakar muffler) and improved airfilterbox (as in the 3AJ).
I would be very grateful if anyone could give me advice on that.
Ibai.
