Many years ago I started building a TZR125 4DL with a tuned 350 YPVS motor.
I've just collected all the pieces from my storage and bought it home. The theory was that I need to get it completed before I'm too old to ride the thing

OK so I'm back in the 1VJ room.
Sorted the storage in the garage out, made room for the white 1VJ and brought it down from the top shed.
To paraphrase the Fast Show....This week I shall be mostly doing 'electric'.
So I printed out the 3AJ wiring diagram off this forum and stuck it on the garage door and got down to it.
I got the wiring somewhere close, making the side lights, lights, front and rear brake lights and indicators work. I have a weird issue with the horn but I'll sort that.
I bought a KOSO digital dash, I'd had a Trailtech before on my hybrid YPVS and just wanted a change. The KOSO has a really comprehensive set of inputs including oil level, neutral and temp if needed.
I made a three wire loom up to go direct to battery with a switched trigger wire to switch the dash on through a 'key', or brown wire if you're used to Yamaha electrics.
I used AMP waterproof connectors on the KOSO, I took the triggers for the indicators and made another small loom from the handle bar switches for side, low and high beam which included the trigger for the main beam indicator on the dash. I've still got the neutral light to sort and probably will end up with a temp sensor.

Forgot to say I also sorted the speed sensor for the KOSO picking up off the front disc and following the route of the front brake line up.
I also bled the front brake which was a piece of pi##.
As we all know bleeding brakes can be an absolute pain, but I'd bought a new HEL line, new genuine pistons and seals for the caliper and an after market master cylinder seal kit.
Everything alloy had been vapour blasted before and it bled up in a matter of minutes, so I'm well happy.
I was slightly concerned that the XT 1VJ master cylinder I'd used because of the brake light switch would have the wrong ratio for the double piston YZ 250 caliper, but it works a treat.

The dash was a compromise really.
I wanted the Trailtech Voyager GPS dash but it's £600 for the colour version and that really is a little extravagant
It has full map facilities and GPS speedo so no wires or sensors.
If I can get this up and running maybe it'd make a good upgrade in the future

The YZ250 front end I've fitted created an issue in that it had no mounting for an ignition switch and I didn't want one anyway. I want the big bruiser dirt bike look with clean lines and nothing on it that didn't need to be there.
So I did a bit of research and bought a Motogadget M-Lock.
The TZR 4DL 350YPVS hybrid I'm building will have a full Motogadget wiring set up with M-Lock and M unit blue controller, so I wanted to get a bit of experience on their stuff.
The M-Lock is a tiny round disc that you can basically mount anywhere it has a small disc that acts as a key and I've also ordered one of their small glass vial keys that you can literally sow into a glove or item of clothing.
I got it working today after a bit of trail and tribulation. I'd been trying to use the master key as the normal key and it only triggers the relay for a second and didn't latch it. After reading the manual I found that you're supposed to use the master key to program up to three other keys. After programming the slave keys then switch and lock the relay giving a feed to the brown wire. A simple pass of the slave key then switches it off, I'm really made up with it,

Is this the bike you're using for your Portugal trip?

Yes, she's one of the three we intend to take.
The wiring is actually much simpler judging by the amount of OEM wiring lying on the floor beneath the bike.
I've got a Zeeltronic controller to fit, so that will hopefully clean up and modernise the wiring at the rear. AND improve the reliability...hopefully. I might also put a new stator on it.
I've got some yellow number boards that I haven't decided upon yet, I'll post some photos later.

I'll cut the front to a shape more appropriate to the Elba shape






The red monocross might have to go for a yellow decal, or I'll detail something else in the matching red at a later date....

Re: your question, I like the side panels like this, bit of colour. The front one coulde be nice if it fits properly :)
