Headlight broken mounts XT660Z 2008

Post by HackmaN »

Hello!
I recently bought a 2008 model and I noticed that there is an issue with my headlight.
When I was on the gas, the beam was moving up and down.
I disassembled it and I discovered that the 2 mounts inside it where broken.

Do you know how I can solve it?

I hope I don't have to buy a new one....

That piece which is broken looks like it is separate and attached to the headlamp unit, it may not be too dear to buy a replacement, have you checked?

You mean the internal transparent part with the mounts on it?
I think the official service points sell the whole headlight as it is.

Yeah, that's the bit, I did notice on e Bay that the ones they had listed were of a different design, one piece and black, maybe it was a common problem later rectified.

So you mean the first model had headlight with issues and they corrected it at the next models?

Any idea of how to repair it?

Will epoxic or hot glue endure off road riding?

Two part epoxy will fix that.

I am just guessing. Plastics can be a bastard to repair.

I went it to the authorized service. They said they will make it with heavy duty foam inlays. I am waiting now.
