XTZ750 - newbie tips

Post by edwardbgill »

Hi all,

A fan of XT600s (I have two), I'm planning to get a XTZ750 in the near future to use as a long distance commuter/two-up tourer. I plan to use mainly for road riding albeit with a bit of light dirt road riding if/when the opportunities arise.

I wondered if any of the old hands on the group might be able to give me pointers on:

1- Any particular model years to avoid/focus on?
2- Upgrades/mods I might want to consider?
3- Pitfalls to look out for when buying?
4- Luggage, seats etc for 2-up touring?

Cheers,

Ed

HI Ed.

There were only subtle differences in life cycle so the best advice is buy yhe best tou can. Engines good for starship mileage and nothing major to report in terms of issues.

Personally I don't think the Super 10 is well suited to 2 up touring....mainly due to the small ish seat. But absolutely fine for big miles fully loaded.

You may want to think about brake upgrades (mine still scares me as to how bad it is compared to modern bikes) and a cheap pipe makes it sound better 😉
