34K03 Cilinder on 1VJ - headgasket

Post by Duc_Rider_NL »

Good day,

Does anybody know if a 34K03 cilinder fits a 1VJ?
As I know this cilinder has the upgrade threads and the issue of head gasket failure is gone. Is that right?

Cheers Nick

Should fit, shouldn’t it? I thought they only changed for the 3aj. But I’m not a spotter. Have you tried it? It will match or it won’t.

Yeah, I’d like to have it verified before I buy it.

yes it will fit, I've read that they were fitted standard to the late 1VJ, so some time in 1987, I have an early 1VJ that has a 34K03 cylinder fitted by a previous owner.

I'd be a bit careful here.
The cylinder/barrel will fit on the cases. But it will depend on what cylinder head you have.
Photo proof below.

1VJ cylinder head.

Stud gap around 134mm.

Later 3AJ type barrel.

Equivalent stud gap 145mm.

So a check of your cylinder head stud gap would be advisable.
