I got into classic enduros because of a friend who introduced me to the Yamaha Ténéré. That one bike started a bit of an obsession with the Dakar heritage and led to a whole new type of bike and riding for me.

Between my friend and I, our garage has grown into a proper collection:

Yamahas: XTZ 750 Super Ténéré, XT 600Z 3AJ, and a TT 600
Hondas: XRV RD04, XR 600 R, XR 500 RE

While restoring and riding them, we struggled to find gear that actually fit the Dakar heritage aesthetic. We wanted the rugged, leather tool bags like the early Dakar racers used, but everything modern is plastic or neon.
