I would be forever in your debt if I could get a set of Decals from you.!!!!
My bike is going to look similar to what you have. The idea for my bike rebuild is to base it on the dakar bikes, but will not be a complete replica. The Start number will be different and the plate/sticker it goes on will also look a little different. I am busy uploding photos from my recent work and will post them here shortly.

Any ideas on how to get that nut off with half the motor stripped already??

You have a compressor for the spray gun. Do you also have an air impact (rattle) gun?
One of these will get it off in a jiffy.

So my wife keeps telling me...

I had to go back and read some of the posts here to see where i was in my rebuild story. Well, from where it has left off to where i am now i a fair ways to being fired up and ridden again
Action man suggested i use an air gun to get the clutch nut off, and i was a bit concerned that i might break something if i used one, however i took a gamble and it was off in about three seconds flat. I now wonder what i was fussing about in the first place. here are some pics from the strip down of the motor





















After splitting the crankcase, i was VERY happy to find the inside of the motor nice and clean. No metalic sludge, no clumps of silicone in the oil strainer etc. This sort of thing always comes as a pleasant surprise.



I sent the head off to the engineers to have the new valves and shims sorted and had to fit a helicoil for the rear balancer shaft as i managed to snap the head off the bolt on the lock plate thingy. Other than that its been a relatively painfree rebuild of the motor.

That engine runs as a twin,means both pistons explode at the same time?
Looks like by watching the counterweights.
Every one told me that bike was far faster and more HP than the AT from Honda.

Fantastic engines those (I'm biased coz I've got a TDM which is the same engine with a touch more capacity - mine is the 270 degree crank version which has the most awesome torque).

A TDM motor drops inside the XTZ & is a very common swap when the engine expires, an 850cc Tenere.
