My XTZ660 93' maintenance / problems and questions

Ok. This is becoming even more fun. While I was cleaning the sprocket I found another T shaped hose splitter and piece of hose stuck there. So now I have 2 T shaped splitters and 3 hoses.

This looks like the carb breather that sits between the connector tubes to the air box. There should be a short pipe between the carbs that it connects to.

The bottom pipe hangs down a gap in your swing arm, the top pipe threads up, over your air box & under the plastic tang to the left of the snorkel.
I've always fitted it to the carb before fitting the carb on to the engine, if you manage to fit it with the carbs in place, buy a crate of beer, you've earned it

There should be a smaller bore pipe that fits to the carb next to the petrol pipe on the left of your carb, the bottom pipe hangs through that clip on the frame, the top pipe sits with the other pipe on top of the air box.

OK. I have other hose fitted on pipe between carbs that just hangs there and it goes beneath the bike. In other words I have no pipes on carb left without hoses. I enumerated them when I removed from carbs and got them back in place when I returned carbs. But it looks like previous owner didn't do same.

I read somewhere that hose between carbs should go together in T shaped spliter with hose that hangs next to fuel intake and end in single hose that goes beneath the motorcycle?

I am all confused I will try to ilustrate in the morning.

OK. I have all hoses on the carb that are displayed in manual.

On my motorcycle both labeled with 4 go beneath bike, individually.
6 goes towards air box and it is free on that side.
3 is vey short on my carb.

Aside from hoses fitted on carb I have 2 more T shaped splitters that have hoses on 2 ends. 1 end on both T splitters is free. Splitters are drawn on right side of carb. I found them on bike going nowhere and one was stuck near front sprocket. Any help on where to fit them would be appreciated.

OK. I think I resolved part of the problem. Here is where the T junctions go.



Now I need to find out where free/open ends of hoses go. I guess one goes beneath the bike and one somewhere near air intake or something like that. I asked friend to check it. I hope he will be able to follow hoses without removing anything.

My friend called back. His both breather hoses go underneath bike too like mine. There is no doubt that that's not a factory setup but I don't care anymore.

Tomorrow morning I will put the 2 extra T splitters in box where I keep my other garbage. I will put one hose in my left ear just to be certain that everything is in the place. Then I will put tank and fairings back and I am going to ride the damn thing until the sun goes down. I have juicy road nearby and I have friend on KLR. Fck the hoses.

Thanks Chicko. Last winter I got herniated disc in my back which kept me off motorcycle. I did 259 days of physical therapy and I think I am good enough to go. Now I hate exercise and I cant wait for winter to go away.

OK. I think I am done for this year. Next winter I will try to do some more good to this bike. I already have 500 kilometers on it and it most certainly deserves little love. No oil consumption / smoke, fuel consumption OK, spark plug color decent. Everything works OK on motorcycle. It speeds up good, even better up to 120km/h then my previous bike Honda CB500 which had +10 hp .
