How about these? There’s a few makes out there. If you know it’s the cdi, your 90% of the way there.

Re: CDI and stator problems
I am finished with the bike, its hard to start and when its hot it spits back through the carb, i disconnected each trigger coil one by one when it was running, one slows down the idol and the other had no effect on running. I can only think the cdi is not retarding the spark.

Is it a mates/customers? Sounds like a new cdi will need to be stumped up for. No rebuilds. New.or sell it on. Someone will want to finish it.

Re: CDI and stator problems
So I learned today that the stator, the pick up coil, the flywheel and the cdi all have to be an exact match from the same year otherwise you get the popping and banging or not starting problems a lot of these bikes seem to be suffering from, especially the 40 year old ones like mine where owners have bought and swapped out one of the above parts due to one of them breaking down but hasn’t cured the problem due to it not being the exact one then selling the bike, and so it goes on.

Re: CDI and stator problems
Same model spec is good enough. Swapped a ton of these, currently running a 3AJ stator on a 1VJ flywheel/CDI and TT600S pickups. The most sensible bit is the CDI as it "has to match" the bikes wiring loom as for cutoff systems like sidestand switch or electric start, and they changed some plugs between models (round to spade connectors on the pickup between 1VJ and 3AJ for instance). If you dont care about those and know how to bypass them, a 1983 34L CDI will electrically work on a 1995 Kickstart 3TB.
