New Exhaust Needed

Post by CafeRacerDan »

Riding along minding my own business when all of a sudden my bike gets alot louder. I pull over to have a look to find my end can weld has failed (where the aluminium joins to the mild steel)

Unfortunately being a student i dont exactly have tonnes of money to throw away. Does anyone know if the XT600E exhausts fit onto a 1VJ or know of any cheap aftermarket options instead of pay £200 for an arrow exhaust!

Many thanks,
Dan

If its not too bad with r*st, try "jb weld" or "chemical metal" if the hole isnt mahoosive, it will withstand exhaust temp no prob, i had to bodge the can end of a header with it as a temp fix, worked a treat till i put the new header on.

sorry forgot to state the obvious and say make sure the area is clean and as r*st free as poss, you could even stick another piece of metal on it with the previously mentioned stuff

Thanks for the reply :) i tried to liquid metal bond it along the seam and holding the two sides together with tabs around but is definitely only temporary until i can find an alternative exhaust to use :(

I ended up buying a Marving replacement from Wemoto for £180 delivered from Italy. it took 2 days to arrive! and is a good bog standard no frills but solid replacement. :D
