Rear tyre 1VJ

Post by Matt »

Hey guys,

I've always fitted 4.00 x 18 on my 1VJ just because that was what it came with. I spent last night trawling many posts and reviews re different tyres and narrowed my choice down to two, TKC 80 and E 09.

On further investigation I discovered that Mitas don't do the E 09 in a 4.00 x 18 which brings me to my question, what size will fit? They do a 130/80 x 18, or do I go for the continental which do a 4.00 x 18?

My head is spinning and would greatly appreciate any opinions and advice.

:thanks:
Matt

I've fit a 150/70 -18 on one of my XT's so there is room for bigger tires , it barely fit and slightly rub and full suspension droop so that's the limit . 5.10/130's are a good size that fits nicely and the normal size I have always put on my XT's. 120 and 4.60 are a little smaller than those.

Thank you xtrider,

now I know a 130 will fit nicely it gives me a few more options, the E09 is out though as it only comes tubeless. I know I should follow my head and opt for the more sensible E07 but my heart wants a bit more grrr, I've read a lot of older posts that refer to the Michelin T63 which I think I'm right in saying they don't make any more and have replaced with the Anakee Wild, which they don't do in an 18" tube type(except a 110)....doh! Dunlop 606???

The T63 is still made , I just bought 2 of them . They're nice tires , good grip both on/off and pretty good wear even when run mostly on pavement . I'd get it over a 606 though it's not too bad either .

http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com/19 ... -rear-tire , but this is in the US .
