Cylinder and cylinder head allen bolts schematic/diagram needed

Hi everyone,

I recently stripped my 1VJ down to chassis to have it powder coated, and whilst in there I decided to do a top-end overhaul of the engine (stock 1VJ engine with 80k+ km)

While disassembly, I forgot to correctly part out all the M6 allen bolts that hold the head to the cylinder and the cylinder to the bottom end, big mistake on my part

Now, I could just go by "feeling" since those bolts usually thread in 10-15mm not more, so I could just sit the bolts in the holes and see how much they stick out while unthreaded and go by that, but that would be a bit risky nonetheless

So, if anybody had a sort of schematic or diagram or list of the location and lengths of said bolts, it'd be greatly appreciated!

You’re right with the trial and error, they’ll all go in about the same depth, so you could do lowering to first thread and see what length is still showing, or measure depth with a gauge. I’ll have a look at my manual and see if there’s a pic.

Descriptions don’t have lengths unfortunately. Just “bolt”. Helpful. Same in work.

Yeah those are the only images that I could find as well, across a couple of manuals/parts list websites. They don't even show all the bolts, just 1 per part basically. Like they just say "You'll need X of these bolts" and then just show where 1 goes, leaving many holes "uncovered"

Oh man this is golden, do you perhaps also have the lengths of the 2 cylinder-to-crankcase allen bolts and the one head-to-cylinder allen bolt?

And, yeah, no stainless, aluminum and stainless don't really go along well

Guy's the answer is there in plain sight.
The Japanese are arguably the best best production engineers in the world. They don't guess these sort of things, and everything has a system.
So when you've been reading BOLT 97316.... and thinking no clue there, you should be looking at the figures after the - something like 06030. That's M6 bolt with a 30mm long thread.
