Re: Could my hub be oval!?

The problem will be with the tyre and/or rim.I had a DR 350 with off road tyres that were never balanced. The wear on the rear was so uneven after months of use,the wheel was hopping off the road at speed.Off road tyre clamps can throw the balance off by quite a lot.Especially when the valve and the ...

Re: Loud spinning sound from the speedometer

Good evening.I think my 3aj has just started with the same problem.Didn't know what was going on.I couldn't get the bike to make the noise at standstill to investigate but when riding it would kick in now and then, and seemed to be coming from high up.Bloody tank, seat and fairing off again to do but ...

Re: Chain Rollers

Hmmmm,my 3AJ has a fixed metal boss to the frame for the upper chain roller.A thin plastic sleeve fits over that and then the chain roller. The actual roller has no bearings and has an inner diameter of 17mm approx. Without removing the metal boss fixed to the frame,I can't see a standard off road ...

Re: Headlamp Bulb Holder

Well done on the purchase.Costly enough for the originals. Both mine gave up but they can be re soldered with a bit of care. Its a bit fiddly and you need to insulate the wires against heat.

Re: Electrical Fuel pump?

Fuel injection pumps run at a much higher pressure and are a fair draw on the electrics.I would go with Mezos suggestion and learn to be nifty at changing to reserve whilst on the move before the engine stops.

Re: Wanted - Kickstart parts

I have an idler gear somewhere in the garage.Brand new.Somehow I managed to buy two of them when I was sourcing my parts to do this same conversion. The circlips and washers that fit either side of this gear, are already on your 3AJ from the factory. As are the two bolts that secure the stopper plates ...

Re: Tank / Fairing fixings

Chimney nuts-either the slip on or the rivet on types. The rivet on can be fitted using countersunk rivets and then the lug stays the same height or the easier slip on. Pro bolt do them both but ebay will be cheaper.

Re: Carby questions!

Howdo,
Nice looking 1VJ Tenere.
I have a 16 front and 43 rear sprocket on my 3AJ Tenere.Standard is 15/45 I believe.Although I can cruise at 70mph at a lower rpm,it is less able to pull top gear with the higher gearing. These aren't quick bikes for 600cc mind.I will be returning to standard once the ...

Re: 1VJ front axle

255mm is the overall length
53mm is the fat hollow unthreaded length
177mm is the 15mm shank length
The rest is the threaded end
I just happened to have one handy while I'm waiting for my wheels to be built.

Re: Noely`s 3AJ Tenere Restoration

Good morning, some sites for Renthal give dimensions for rise, sweep, width, etc.I just rode the bike to a couple of shops and compared what they had in stock, with the standard steel OEM bars.I wanted the tallest though. So the Jimmy Button 764 model won't suit you.It was the tallest MX bar they had in ...
